Mary Karagianni-Michalopoulou

Mary Karagianni-Michalopoulou, an acknowledged expert in Taxation Law, graduated from the Faculty of Economics in the Law School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She then moved on to complete her studies, by acquiring a postgraduate diploma in taxation from the Athens University of Economics and Business.

In 1987 she joined Arthur Andersen, in 1998 she moved to PWC, to rejoin Andersen in 2001, as a Partner and Head of Tax & Legal. Following the consolidation of Andersen and EY she took on the role of Partner in the Tax practice of EY Athens. During her career with EY she headed for many years the Financial Services (FSI) sector, the Business Tax Advisory (BTA) service line and she was responsible for Quality and Risk compliance in the Southeast region (Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Serbia, Cyprus, Malta, Albania, FYROM). Currently she heads the Consumer sector for Greece.

In parallel with her professional career, she has also been active in the academic field, lecturing on corporate taxation for more than ten years at Panteion University of Athens and having set up the launch of the Post Graduate Professional Diploma in Taxation program at Alba Graduate Business School.

She has served as a member of the Executive Committee of the International Fiscal Association (IFA), a member of the Executive Committee of the Hellenic Institution of Financial Management and a member of the Board of Directors of Ernst & Young.
