Introduction

The Onassis Foundation believes in the notions of collaboration and inclusion. This is why, in collaboration with the City of Athens, it organizes lectures to raise awareness and inform the personnel of the Municipal and Greek Police regarding the Autism Spectrum Disorder.

The percentage of the population diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) constantly rises. It is estimated that one in 57 people is diagnosed at birth – a fact that puzzles the medical community about the parameters responsible for this rapid increase.

This is why it is crucial to stay informed as a society: in orded to understand our fellow citizens, as certain behaviors and reactions might be attributed to ASD.

The Onassis Foundation, in collaboration with the City of Athens and the Greek Police, put the concept of substantial collaboration into action, implementing a series of lectures for the personnel of the Municipal and Greek Police regarding the Autism Spectrum Disorder and the obstacles this might cause: for a society of diversity that can turn better.
