Maria Kamilaki
Maria Kamilaki holds a PhD in Linguistics (University of Athens), as well as postgraduate degrees (MSc) in Cultural Management (Department of Communication, Media and Culture, Panteion University) and Applied Linguistics (University of Edinburgh). She serves as Acting Director General for Electronic Administration, Library, and Publications of the Hellenic Parliament. She was Head of the Hellenic Parliament Library Directorate from 2021 to 2022. She has also taught as a professor-advisor in the Hellenic Open University's postgraduate program "Current Trends in Linguistics for Teachers" since 2017. She was an academic fellow at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens' Department of Italian Language and Literature (2018-20), as well as a linguistics lecturer at New York College (2013-20). Since 2018, she has worked as an expert for the National Center for Public Administration and Local Government.
She is the author of the teachers’ guide "Words that hurt, words that smile: an experiential workshop on verbal bullying in the school environment" (Hellenic Parliament Library, 2020) and co-author of the book "Pepper in your mouth: Aspects of taboo vocabulary in Modern Greek” (Calligraphos Publications, Athens, 2015). She has curated the multimedia exhibition "Glossopolis: Wanderings in Modern Greek" (2016), which was co-organized by the Onassis Scholars' Association and the Hellenic Parliament Library, and the anniversary exhibition "Beholding Liberty! In the Hellenic Parliament, two centuries later" (2021). She is currently finishing her postdoctoral research at the Department of Mediterranean Studies, University of the Aegean, titled "From language attitudes to language policies: Discussing the language question in the Hellenic Parliament." She has three children.
