Konstantinos Pittas

Konstantinos Pittas is an architect, writer, and researcher. He holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Cambridge, and his research focuses on the relationship between cultural institutions, architecture, and democracy. He has completed postgraduate studies in Comparative Literature and European Culture at the University of Cambridge and holds a degree in Architectural Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. He was a visiting researcher at Columbia University in New York from 2018 to 2019.

The Onassis Foundation supported both his doctoral and postgraduate studies. In addition, he has received awards and scholarships from the Cambridge Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC–DTP), the Cambridge Commonwealth, European, and International Trust, and the NEON Cultural Organization, among others. His essays and articles on architecture, public space, culture, and the relationship between arts and politics have appeared in scientific journals and electronic and print media.


His architectural practice is rooted in locality and focuses on small-scale projects that integrate into the landscape. His office specializes in the design and implementation of residential buildings, cultural projects, and contemporary art exhibitions, both in Greece and internationally. He was coordinator of the National Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens, during the documenta 14 international art exhibition in 2017 and a member of Dimitris Papaioannou’s creative team for the design of the Opening Ceremony of the First European Games 2015 in Baku, Azerbaijan.

His book, "The Solitude of the One," was recently published by Aiolos Publications in Greek, and the collective work "Cities of Tomorrow," which he co-edited, is now available through Nissos Academic Publishing.
