Joël Heuillon

Joël Heuillon holds a Ph.D. in Musicology and lectures in and co-directs the Music department at the University of Paris-VIII. Since 1999, he has headed the “Euridice 1600-2000” research group, which seeks to restore the vocal works of the early Baroque to their original state by means of an approach which combines theoretical findings with their application in practice by a group of artist-researchers (musicians, singers, actors, dancers).

Recent activities of the group include the publication “Le parlar cantando”, CNED 2011; the seminars “Les chemins de la voix” in 2011 and 2012, “Barbara Strozzi” in 2014, and “Recitar cantando et sprezzatura” in 2015; the conferences “La voix dans l’ Aria d’opéra” and “Modernité et composition musicale autour de la Méditerranée” in 2013; the concerts “Les plaintes d’ Arianne…” in 2011, “Ornatus” and “Madrigaux d’ hier et d’ aujourd’hui” in 2012, “Le madrigal méditerranéen entre traditions populaires et musique savant” in 2013, “Voci di donne…” in 2014.

He also co-directs the Orphée(s) program along with Giordano Ferrari.
