Introduction

Art critics, authors, artists and directors meet at the Onassis Stegi and discuss about the Greek family.

A symbol of identity that’s also a source of soul searching, an emotive image that’s an allegory for a profound crisis, too, the Greek family is back in the spotlight both as the subject of analysis and critique and as a core motif in contemporary film, theatre, literature and the visual arts.

But why? This is the question audience and speakers will be addressing in a public discussion to be held at the Onassis Stegi.

The first event to be dedicated so deliberately to the family, it will approach its subject from angles now firmly enshrined in the Greek public sphere, addressing both public concerns about the survival of the family and its institutions in the midst of crisis and the family through the prism of contemporary artistic creativity.
