José María Sánchez-Verdú
A composer, conductor and musicologist with studies in Spain, Italy and Germany to his credit, José María Sánchez-Verdú is also a qualified lawyer. Currently preparing his doctoral thesis at the Autonomous University of Madrid, he studied Composition at the Hochschule Music Academy, theater and art in Hanover and music at the Zaragoza Conservatory of Music.
As a composer, his wide-ranging oeuvre includes numerous genres including musictheater, interdisciplinary programs and works in which architecture and light are employed as dramatic elements. Works of his have been performed at important festivals and by celebrated opera companies and orchestras around Europe.
Upcoming performances of his music include "Atlas" at Salzburg (March 2015), his tenth string quartet “Barzaj” in Madrid (March 2015) and “Lux ex Tenebris” in Frankfurt by the Ensemble Moderne (March 2015).
