Irini Kourouvani

Irini Kourouvani holds a degree in Political Science from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. In 1992 she was awarded from the Academy of Athens for her optimistic approach to life despite the difficulties of her disability. She has taken part in 7 international championships in 4 different sports: Track 800m with wheelchair, ballroom dance, weightlifting and sailing. She has participated in the Athens and Epidaurus Festival in 2007 as a member of Wrong Movement Dance Organization and at the Kalamata International Dance Festival in the piece Drops of Breath, the first under water dance piece, created by Apostolia Papadamaki, Sophie Bulbuyan and Lia Charaki. She has been teaching dance workshops in the context of the European programs Unlimited Access and iDance of Onassis Stegi together with her collaborator Medie Megas. Irini comes from a small village in Peloponnese and lives in Athens, working in the Ministry of Finance, dancing as a professional dancer, participating in international performance labs and focusing on her sailing training as an active athlete.
