Efthimis Kosemund Sanidis

Filmmaker

Born with dual Greek/German nationality, Efthimis Kosemund Sanidis studied Informatics Engineering in Athens and then Contemporary Arts at Le Fresnoy - Studio National in France. His films have been screened and have won acclaim at major film festivals such as Venice, Locarno, Clermont-Ferrand, art venues like Forum des Images, Centre Pompidou, Haus der Kulturen der Welt, and distributed on platforms like Festival Scope and MUBI. He is an alumnus of the Berlinale and Sarajevo Talents and has been nominated multiple times for the best short film award by the Hellenic Film Academy.

With his latest film, ‘All the Fires the Fire’, he returned to Locarno, took home the Special Jury Prize at Clermont-Ferrand and is currently screening in festivals around the world. He is developing his debut feature film project, ‘That Burning Light’, which participated in the Cinelink Co-Production Market of the Sarajevo IFF 2018, was part of the Meet the Future program of Thessaloniki IFF 2019 and has been selected by the TorinoFilmLab FeatureLab program 2020.

His work revolves around exploring transcendental cracks in the fabric of everyday life and blending the archaic with the contemporary, all while creating an expanded reality of dreams, memories and desires.
