Libraries: dialogue for change
The Onassis Foundation is supporting the participation of Greek librarians and library staff at the 85th World Library and Information Congress of the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), which is to be held in Athens on August 24-30, 2019. The conference will primarily be addressing the theme of "Libraries: dialogue for change". This is the first time the Congress has been staged in Greece; staffed by over 300 volunteers, it is the world's leading event in the libraries field.

How can libraries of all kinds, sizes and area of specialization redefine their role and services in view of ongoing social and technological developments? What adjustments and changes are required in the light of population movements, refugees, climate change, and the emergence of the digital world, artificial intelligence and robotics?

The tour program that has been drawn up to accompany the conference will include a visit to the Onassis Library on August 30, 2019.

The Onassis Grant covers the cost of participation for the duration of the conference.
