The Onassis Foundation presents a new awareness campaign on organ donation
Organ donation means making the greatest choice of all: to leave the gift of life behind.
The new campaign of the Onassis Foundation reopens the discussion on organ donation and transplantation with a moving message. Through a subtle dose of humor, the campaign projects one of the “worst-case scenarios” of who you might save when you become a donor and sheds light on what is essentially important: by donating organs, you choose to prolong the life of someone who needs it. And this is the most important thing of all.

With the support of the Onassis Foundation, under the scientific auspices of the Hellenic Transplant Organization, and the collaboration of the Onassis Hospital, the new awareness campaign on organ donation and transplantation is the next step in the National Initiative undertaken by these three bodies in recent years.
Entering the last stage before the delivery of the Onassis National Transplant Center to the Greek State—and while several parallel actions are being realized, such as the passage of the new institutional framework on transplants, the successful implementation of the seven Local Transplant Coordinators pilot program, the establishment of the Transplant Masterclasses as an annual institution, the awareness program Organmeetings, and the popular Orgamites—the new Onassis Foundation campaign is here to contribute decisively to the invested nationwide effort to alter the culture and attitude of Greek citizens towards organ donation.
Stills from the campaign
The end of 2023 saw a 20% increase in organ donors compared to 2022. However, Greece remains at the bottom of Europe in terms of the number of transplants performed annually per country. There are many more steps to be taken until society becomes accustomed to the concept of organ donation and discards stereotypes and prejudices that are being reproduced to this day. Still, it is important to continue this effort together.
It is important to leave something behind so we can all move forward together.
Organ donation concerns us all. With the thought of saving even more lives.
The campaign was created by Ogilvy Greece.
