STAGES A/LIVE presents Marina Satti on the Onassis Channel on YouTube

Digital premiere: Monday, January 22, at 21:00. The fiery concert of Marina Satti at Technopolis City of Athens, exclusively on the Onassis Channel.

STAGES A/LIVE is back for its third season. This time, the Onassis Foundation initiative, which was launched in January 2021, will evolve into a new way of experiencing each concert, both live and digitally, and will be a purely female affair. Marina Satti kicks off this year's season with a Dionysian live performance on the Onassis Channel on YouTube on Monday, January 22, at 21:00.

Combining traditional music with pop, bagpipes with beats, and davuls with Roland 808s – the primordial sounds of the Greek and Balkan countryside with the sounds now being born in the world's digitally connected metropolises – is not easy. The explosive concert of Marina Satti that took place last July at the Technopolis of the Municipality of Athens is coming exclusively to the Onassis Channel on YouTube, specially filmed by Christos Saris. Get ready for the most vibrant and Dionysian digital live experience of the new year.Marina Satti has not only managed to create a musical genre all her own but is also a class apart in Greece’s contemporary music scene. With an eye on a horizon that transcends geographical and aesthetic boundaries, and shortly before representing the country on the Eurovision 2024 stage in Malmö, Sweden, she takes to the digital stage of the Onassis Channel on YouTube.

Born in Athens and raised in Heraklion, Crete, by a Sudanese father and a Greek mother she is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music, where she studied contemporary writing and production. She is a remarkable example of how an exceptional and open-minded musical talent can assimilate a set of seemingly incompatible influences. After all, her career before and after the tremendous success of her single "Mantissa" in 2017 demonstrates that freedom of expression has always been her raison d'être. The song, inspired by Epirotic musical forms, was an unprecedented phenomenon in Greek music that has since reached 55 million views on YouTube.

The singer, composer, music producer, actress, and founder and artistic director of the polyphonic group Fonés and the women's choir Chóres has since gone on to perform live in more than 20 countries. Most notably, she has appeared at the United Nations Champions of the Earth Awards in New York and at Womad and KEXP with Fonés, the first Greek group to perform at the legendary show. Marina Satti also collaborated with Greek and foreign artists such as Phoivos Delivorias, Nikos Kypourgos, Giorgos Dalaras, Pavlos Pavlidis, Dionysis Savvopoulos, Paco de Lucia, Patrice Rushen, Simon Shaheen, Maria Mulata, and Mavis Staples before releasing her first full-length solo album "YENNA" in May 2022.

STAGES A/LIVE

STAGES A/LIVE was launched in January 2021 as an Onassis Foundation initiative to support independent Greek music scenes through a series of filmed live performances that amplified the Onassis Channel's digital scene on YouTube. This time, STAGES A/LIVE is evolving into a new way to experience each concert, both live and digitally. For the 2023-24 season, STAGES A/LIVE will have a live audience and will be a female affair focused on four unique femininities. Stay tuned to the Onassis Foundation's digital stage on the Onassis Channel on YouTube.
