#11 The Romaniote Music Tradition of Ioannina: The Unsung Treasures Left by the City’s Jewish Community | Contributors: Sakis Negrin, Zanet I. Battinou, Esther Solomon
Esther Solomon, Assistant Professor at the University of Ioannina Department of Fine Arts, speaks with the architect and musician Sakis Negrin and with the archeologist and Director of the Jewish Museum of Greece Zanet I. Battinou about the invaluable unsung musical legacy left by the Romaniote Jews and its importance within the reminiscential landscape of Ioannina. Rare old recordings are heard, remembered, and remarked upon with Ioannina citizens who survived the Holocaust, and Romaniote pieces are presented in new performances by Marko Battino.

What is a makerspace, and what is one doing in a remote corner of northwestern Greece? In this episode, we hear from some of the people involved in Habibi.Works project –, a makerspace and platform for empowerment and education, for people on the move in Katsikas. Follow thought-provoking discussions on power dynamics and how building a community rooted in trust and transparency can challenge and transform them. This episode also features some original songs recorded in Habibi.Works music studio.
