A concert dedicated to music which is hard to be performed in public while it is still ‘contemporary’.
“Dear friends,
The Onassis Stegi has already staged three events in its Hellenic Project, with authors, directors, actors and composers who represent tesserae in that part of the vast mosaic of Greek culture that remains in the shadows, and which we have opted to call the “Unknown Hellenism”.But now the time has come to be literal and present three young Greek composers whose rounded talents embrace both orchestral music and song. Haralambos Gogios, Nikos Platyrachos and Tasos Rossopoulos are three of many important young composers who deserve to play a vibrant role on the Greek music scene. Their work provides a counter to the pessimistic thought that there is no new blood in Greek composing.
Celebrating their ties to that living cell of Greek culture that we call song, these three composers are following—and blazing—a trail to a new, sometimes more complex, but always Greek, sound.”
Dimitris Papadimitriou
