The extremely successful designer will be meeting the Onassis Stegi public to talk about the impact of 3D printing on jewellery design.
The London-based German designer Silvia Weidenbach is one of the most important proponents of new-tech jewellery, and was the first designer to use precious and semi-precious stones in jewellery wrought using 3D printing.
She has studied Applied Art and traditional jewellery making, and her works combine traditional and contemporary techniques in a unique way.
Weidenbach teaches at the Royal College of Art in London and has collaborated with both the Design Museum and the Sir John Soane museums in the same city. She is the recipient of a Jerwood Makers Open Award and heads the training workshops in the research department at BMW.
Works of hers will be shown in 2015 at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and at the Galerie für Angewandte Kunst in Munich. Her work has previously been exhibited in Germany, the UK, Japan, the Netherlands, Switzerland and Canada.
