An audiovisual experience focusing on improvisation and unexpected raw materials. Producer, composer, performer, and DJ Saber Rider curates an unexpected lineup with emerging Greek artists from diverse music fields challenging norms and creating exceptions on stage.

The third day of “Strange” welcomes the electronic variations of Socrates Antypas’ synthesizer sounds and the organic free improvisation of the experimental jazz duo of Simos Riniotis (drums/toys/percussion) and Nicky Kokkoli (saxophones). They are followed by pr0mpt, a duo specializing in audiovisual performances combining IDM with live algorithmic and found footage on screen, to pass the baton to the subversive Teeto, an experimental quartet from Thessaloniki that focuses on instant composition beyond music genres. The evening closes with Apu Nanu’s deconstructed harmonies and his unique ability to synthesize new sounds before our eyes.

Socrates Antypas

Socrates Antypas is a music producer based in Athens, crafting intricate soundscapes that blend serene, ethereal elements with unpredictable bursts of energy. By incorporating semi-random and organic patterns, he imparts a fractal, branching feel to his music, seamlessly blending the natural with the otherworldly. His DJ-sets aim to create a rhythm-based immersive experience, gradually leading the audience into a pulsating trance state.

Simos Riniotis / Nicky Kokkoli

Nicky Kokkoli and Simos Riniotis formed their duet in February 2022. Since then, they performed in various festivals worldwide, such as Aarhus Jazz Festival (Denmark, 2023) and Krama Festival (Greece, 2022). Their music is based on Improvisation and the shapes it can take, while they are constantly in the pursuit of finding the perfect balance or imbalance between rhythm and melody, electronic sounds and acoustic sounds, chaos and serenity, silence and noise.

pr0mpt

An electronic, audiovisual duet based in Athens. They started experimenting with various music production styles in 2022 and ended up with their current only-laptop setup at the beginning of 2023. Their sound is a combination of abstractive structure and pop forms. pr0mpt are Dimitris Oikonomou and Stefanos Ginargiros.

Teeto

Teeto was born in 2019 when four people decided to marry under the holy roof of Pestus Studio. Their first EP, "Teeto is Dead,'' was released in 2019. After releasing their second EP, "noby," as an improvisational live performance, they finally put out their full-length album, "TEETO,'' on vinyl in May 2023, through Pestus Studio Records. Teeto's music is based on experimentations with various musical elements such as ambiance, noise, and more. Live performances combine pure feelings of love and despair, all portrayed inside the improvisational madness.

Apu Nanu

Known for his textural, deconstructed, and elegantly crafted compositions, Athens-based artist and producer Apu Nanu blends complex harmonies and rhythms, showcasing his unique approach to sound design.
