#vgeskaipes: The concept that became a campaign is presented at the Onassis Stegi, as part of the Athens Pride Week 2019. An online incentive for people who experience discrimination to tell their story with a video, whether they belong to the LGBTQI+ community or not. The videos will be used in a film produced by the Greek Film Centre in memory of Zak Kostopoulos.

The idea for the #vgeskaipes campaign was conceived while observing the Greek reality and the incidents which occur every day and are experienced, heard or silenced in the streets of each city. Incidents relating to the wider LGBTQI+ community or to other people who are confronted with the unexpected switch from a sense of safety to a feeling of insecurity every time they get out of their home. Within the Athens Pride Week, #vgeskaipes enters the Onassis Stegi and shares its purpose through discussions, presentations, and screenings.

“Come out and tell your story.” Share that incident which had to do with bullying, verbal abuse, homophobia, transphobia, or domestic violence. The #vgeskaipes online campaign is here. For such incidents and for how it feels to live as “different,” but also for any experience one might want to share. This is an open call to every person who feels they want to talk about their life. The video-testimonies will work as material for a modular film produced by the Greek Film Centre.

The action, as well as the film, are dedicated to the memory of Zak Kostopoulos.
