Eror (The pianist)

The “eror” is inspired by a word — λάθως (lathos: in error) — written on the walls of Athens. In a city without people, the only survivor is a disguised pianist who repeats that same word — λάθως — over and over again. Although the word «λάθως» appears only on the walls of Athens, the work relates to any city and the “errors” of civilization/culture: badly-conceived and faulty IT systems, red alerts that spread fear, the production and piling up of waste – throw-away products, images, information...

Georgia Spiropoulos (Athens 1965) has composed works for musical and vocal ensembles, electroacoustic and mixed music, music theater and audio-visual installations.
She studied Composition and Electro-acoustic music in Paris with Philippe Leroux, Form Analysis with Michaël Lévinas, and Composition and Music Technology at IRCAN. She also studied at the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS).
In 2017-–18, she taught Composition at McGill University in Montreal as a Distinguished Visiting Professor, in which position she was also in charge of the Digital Composition Studio.
She has received commissions from numerous organizations (French Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Culture of Baden-Württemberg, IRCAM - Centre Pompidou, French State Radio, Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, Marseille European Capital of Culture 2013, Sacem, Muse En Circuit, the Onassis Stegi, and her works have been performed by a number of ensembles, choirs and soloists (including the Ensemble Intercontemporain, L'Itinéraire, 2E2M, Ars Nova, Sillages, San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, Nikel, dissonArt, Accentus, and Cris de Paris). www.georgiaspiropoulos.com

Alvise Sinivia, piano

As a pianist, improviser, composer and performer, he collaborates with a wide range of artists (dancers, choreographers, circus artists, video artists, painters, visual artists). A restless spirit, he is constantly searching and renewing his relationship with the piano. For a number of years now, he has been exploring the peculiarities of the instrument, the limits of its sound and its physiology. He studied at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris under Alain Planès and Emmanuel Strosser. Dedicated to contemporary musical creation, he frequently collaborates with composers and works with the Orchestre de Nouvelles Créations, Expérimentations et Improvisations Musicales. A founder and artistic director of the WARNING collective, he also initiates projects with musicians of his own generation (Olivier Stankiewicz, Giani Caserotto, Vincent Le Quang...). As a resident fellow in performance at the Villa Medici for 2016-2017, he explored the relationship between movement and sound in greater depth.
