After two long years of restrictions, Onassis Stegi is sending out a call to cast fear and doubt aside and head out onto the streets. A liberating street party for the citizens of Athens is coming to the Neos Kosmos neighborhood, where there’s always non-stop life. A party to remember for time to come. Don’t miss it!

Thracian psychedelia from Evritiki Zygia, an Afrobeat DJ set headed by the Teranga Beat indie label, unlimited energy from Erol Alkan, a galactic DJ set from Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy, our very own Leon of Athens, the electronic worlds of Planningtorock set alongside the hip hop rhymes of Expe, mi55t, Cego Menz, and Hatemost, the fresh sounds of Black Athena, and the all-encompassing Entropia Records.

This explosive and eclectic line-up of Greek and international acts, and many more surprises besides, will be gracing this year’s Onassis Stegi Block Party till the clock strikes midnight. So, come meet us in the streets around Onassis Stegi, in our colorful neighborhood: a circle of friends growing ever wider with people and ideas that enrich the urban fabric and very identity of the city. Because we’ve not yet had our fill of a little laughter, music played loud, and our friends – it’s what we all need. And because cutting loose is culture too.

Like something straight out of a fairy tale, this massive dragon wanders in among the audience, blowing smoke (made of powder, that is!) and thrilling everyone in sight.

Unblock the Line-up

19:30 - 20:10 | Entropia Records (DJ set)

Entropia Records started out as a record store based in Athens – the visionary joint project of two friends and record collectors who decided to bring a little order to their musical chaos. The pair build bridges between contemporary urban soundscapes and traditional rural music, and run monthly radio residencies on Movement Radio, the Onassis Stegi online radio station.

20:10 - 20:45 | Intro by Βlack Athena (DJ set); hip hop supergroup with Expe, mi55t, Cego Menz, and Hatemost (live set)

Black music of yesteryear, today, and tomorrow has proven the recipe for success of Black Athena, who’ll be opening for a line-up of hip hop artists with a powerful DJ set. Expe – aka Expensive – is coming to us from Thessaloniki to make waves in the male-dominated Greek hip hop scene. Joining her on stage are a female pioneer of the Greek rap scene, mi55t, and the somewhat moodier, more mysterious Cego Menz. This supergroup is rounded out by Hatemost (known to many by his alias Prince XXIII) who came to prominence as part of the legendary BPEIS rap group and is today considered one of the foremost artists of the Greek hip hop scene.

20:45 - 21:25 | Planningtorock (DJ set)

Born in Bolton, UK and based in Berlin, Planningtorock – aka Jam Rahuoja Rostron – is a singer-songwriter, composer, music producer, and director with four studio albums and a series of major collaborations to their name. Self-taught, non-binary, and a leading light of the queer electropop scene, their name is mentioned in the same breath as such fellow DIY outliers and gender outlaws as Peaches and The Knife.

21:25 - 21:40 | Leon of Athens (live set)

Leon of Athens’ colorful sound, visionary lyrics, and authentic artistry have set him apart as one of the most major acts Greece has given the world in recent years. Since 2018, he has toured the US and Europe each year, appearing at some of the biggest festivals around the globe. He is currently preparing two new albums – one Greek-language, the other English-language – to be released on Cobalt Music in 2023.

21:40 - 22:20 | Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy (DJ set)

Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy is an undisputed colossus of the music world – a high priestess of disco, and the sound connoisseur you wish would take the reins at your own party. Her flagship project is the album listening event and content hub Classic Album Sundays; turning twelve this October, it has become an international phenomenon. Colleen continued to innovate during the pandemic lockdowns of 2020 with her Balearic Breakfast radio show, which she says helped bring more meaning to both her own and her listeners’ lives.

22:20 - 22:50 | Erol Alkan (DJ set)

Erol Alkan is not susceptible to clichés. Alkan's creative life as a DJ, producer, label owner, radio host, and collaborator among famous artists has spanned decades. Each facet of Alkan's music taste is accounted for, spanning acid-drenched rave, frenetic house and the spirit of alternative pop and guitar music, as curated on his “Bugged In” mixes.

22:50 - 23:30 | Intro by Teranga Beat (DJ set); Evritiki Zygia (live set)

The night is being brought to a close by the DJ, visual artist, and avid record collector Teranga Beat, who is also the owner of the record label of the same name. Among the most important albums released by this label to date is “Ormenion”, which shaped the sound of the band playing out this year’s party: Evritiki Zygia, the traditional ensemble that’s bringing a riotous revel to the streets around Onassis Stegi, featuring the gaida (bagpipe), Thracian lyra, kaval (flute), and davul (drum).
