“I was thinking about my need to save the world while I was sitting on my couch,” ody icons says in a disarming, sarcastic note about his new project, which is part of the Onassis New Choreographers Festival 8

On Christmas of 2020, ody icons released his first track, with the video clip “Working Out My Little Muscles,” an electropop manifest, urging audiences to forget the planet’s sufferings, and instead focus on their muscles training.

“YES HΑLLO HI” is ody icons’ new work, which premieres at the Onassis YouTube Channel, as part of the Onassis New Choreographers Festival 8. In "YES HALLO HI," a person calls, from the warmth of his middle-class home, to an unidentified service asking for guidance on how to save the world and the future. He asks ironically, “Which application form should I fill? Which fields should I check?” In a parallel narrative, the same person finds himself in a situation where the animal outbreak prevails in “nature.”

Through his collaboration with the music producer Sagittarius Lefthand, οdy icons has created “YES HALLO HI” combining electronic music with slam poetry and political lyrics. Drawing on the theatricality and exaggeration of our times, with a political-sarcastic mood of a modern, strange, queer cabaret, ody icons aims on the reconcilement between the warmth of freedom and the pleasure of melancholy. In other words, through the meeting of electronic music and poetry, "YES HALLO HI" seeks to create the right heat that will trigger personal responsibility

ody icons, Odysseas I. Constantinou solo music project, had its public debut in 2017 with “Supermelancolic,” a cover of the 1996 Fivos-penned song “Tha Melancholiso” [i.e. “I will get melancholic”] performed by Keti Garbi. Since then, he has performed at festivals in Greece and Cyprus, such as the most recent performance at the 11th Open House Festival at Dance House Lemesos.

Thanks to ody icons’ ongoing collaboration with Liminal Access, “YES HALLO HI” video is fully accessible for Deaf and Hard of Hearing audiences (Subtitles and ISL).

ody icons’ note on the project: “What is the right way to save the world? Where does the need for salvation of the world come from? How did we come to the narrative that the world can and must be saved? How do all these questions that torment a person's mind end up being loaded and lead to an outburst? Who set the rules for the complex evolution of the zeitgeist? What record is there that proves the one and only way one can save the world? Why now; Why not later? Or earlier? Is there a proper timing and a specific way to engage a person in any change?”
