The Onassis Scholars’ Association is organizing a one-day conference on sport, with numerous important figures from the sporting world invited to talk.

Just hours before European Football Championship, days before the London Olympic Games, and at a difficult time for Greece, sport is one of the few sectors managing to survive. In a particularly competitive environment, Greek sporting achievements are proving that when a willingness to work is combined with meritocracy and team spirit, Greece can play a leading role. But is this phenomenon built on sound foundations? Or is this too a fragile façade? This is the question the invited speakers will be attempting to answer, in an interactive discussion with one another, as well as with the audience.
