The first woman to head the historic French daily newspaper "Le Monde" comes to the Onassis Stegi for an open discussion with the Greek public.
Natalie Nougayrede, 47 years old, is the Director and Executive Editor of “Le Monde”. She has also sat on the newspaper’s Board of Directors since May 2013. She is the first woman to head the historic French daily and one of very few women in the world to have held such a post.
She began her journalistic career in 1990 working simultaneously for the Foreign News section of “Libération” and the BBC’s French Service. She covered the changes in Central Europe and the former Soviet Union for “Le Monde” during 1996, serving as the paper’s Russian correspondent 2001-2005, and its diplomatic correspondent, 2005-2013.
Born in Dijon in 1966, she is a graduate of the Institut d’Études Politiques in Strasburg (International Relations) and the Centre de Formation des Journalistes in Paris.
Her work has been published in collective volumes on Vladimir Putin’s Russia and the murdered Russian journalist, Anna Politkovskaya.
