A lecture about the “language issue” in Greece and its history.

Despite of what is broadly believed, the language issue emerged in Greece at the end of the 18th century and has been developed and deepened at the end of the 19th century.
It began with the conflict between Iosipos Moisiodakas and Eugenios Voulgaris, it continued with the conflict between Adamantios Korais and Panagiotakis Kodrikas and was intensified with the contrast between Giannis Psycharis and Georgios Chatzidakis.
The issue was politically resolved at 1976. The last years, although the “language issue” is not existing anymore, a wider problem exists, the problem of the way that we speak and write Greek.
