What is insomnia? "It's the horror of being and going on being” – Jorge Luis Borges
What is insomnia? "It's the horror of being and going on being", wrote Borges. In literature, film and the visual arts we often encounter protagonists who are suffering from sleeplessness; heroes who give a name and face to the insomniac’s tortured darkness.
Combining literature, clinical psychology and psychoanalysis, the speakers will discuss insomnia and therapeutic approaches to it in the light of texts, case studies and their own valuable research experience. The aim is to shed a little (therapeutic) light on a condition that torments people of every age and social class.
