A workshop that aims to shed light on song interpretation as a means of conveying the content of both the music and the lyrics.

Over the last two seasons, the Hellenic Project has overseen and staged discussions centered on Greek song. The impressive response both from the public and distinguished composers, lyricists and performers active in the genre revealed that a lot of people just love Greek song, while the public discussions confirmed that Greek song remains of central importance to Greek musicians.

Over the 2012-13 season, the Hellenic Project built on this public conversation with a series of discussions/workshops centering on composition and song writing—a focus mirrored in the Greek Song Creation Competition and its emphasis on music and lyrics. However, it is the performer who expresses the content of the music and lyrics and conveys both to the audience.

That is why this year’s program will stress interpretation, with the season’s three discussions / workshops tackling the conveying of a song’s content through music and lyrics.
