Introduction

Let's meet up at the Agricultural University on Sundays! Workshops, walks, talks, true food as part of Geometries exhibition, to discover and enjoy the urban landscape.

Program

12:00-21:00 | “Cob Workshop based on building with natural materials”, by Stagones

Participants will encounter materials such as clay, straw and stone, building together bioclimatic structures with a low ecological footprint as well as small-scale constructions from materials found in nature.

Stagones was formed by a group of people that wanted to renegotiate their way of living with respect to nature and humans.

Location: University Gardens

12:00 | “The Story of Stones”: A workshop by Georgia Dousikou, Andriana Papanikolaou & Marios Desillas

Α physical workshop with geological stones – asking questions about their history. What is their role in our food cycle and ecosystem?

Georgia Dousikou is a health psychologist who creates educational programs based on reconnecting with the land.
Andriana Papanikolaou is a dancer and dance teacher trained in classical ballet and Greek dances.
Marios Desillas from Soil School, studied at the Agricultural University of Athens. For the last 30 years he has been dedicated to bringing agriculture closer to natural processes, advising and teaching those whose heart beats in a similar rhythm.

Location: Orchard | Duration: 60 minutes

14:00 | “Mama Feed Me”: A picnic with Troō Food Liberation and lavender bread by Betty’s Bakery

Seated comfortably on Mother Earth, country eating in an urban vineyard at the centre of Athens. Come share with us your food as well.

Troō Food Liberation is a collec tive that creates “Real Food”. The group’s key manifesto is that unprocessed foods from sustainable harvesting, contributes towards a positive evolution of our sociopolitical, ecological, and collective consciousness, offering a tangible “way out” for the future.
Betty’s Bakery is a bio-certified artisanal bakery working exclusively with sourdough and stone milled organic flour. It supports local communities, respects the environment and innovates in its recipes and work ethic.

Location: Vineyard | The event is full. Thank you for your interest.

20:00 | “The Sound of Silence”: A lecture by Yannis Baziotis

Yannis Baziotis just returned from NASA’s famed voyage to Antarctica in search of meteorites (Antarctic Search for Meteorites / ANSMET), a trip first established in 1976. For six weeks, Antarctica was his frozen home. He will share with us the thrills, beauty and geological discoveries found at the end of the world – the only place where there is absolute silence.

Yannis Baziotis is an Assistant Professor at the Agricultural University of Athens, department of Geology.

Location: University’s Central Building, Amphitheatre B | Duration: 45 minutes

21:30 | “Ecodrome”: Curated by Céline Condorelli and Filipa Ramos

“Ecodrome” is a film programme spread out across five screening sessions which combine documentaries, artists’ films and feature-length films that deal with the consequences of living in a dangerously warmer world for people, animals and landscape alike.
Hosted in Cinema Zagara, deisgned by Céline Condorelli, as a set of mini-architectural structures that pay tribute to Jantar Mantar, an astronomic observatory located in Delhi, India.
