What are these elves and figures strolling around Pedion tou Areos? Who's summersaulting and dancing on the benches? Inspired by Pedion tou Areos, primary school pupils are transformed into Park Elves with the help of puppets they will make from natural materials and recyclable trash during the workshop.
In the context of the 5th Onassis Fast Forward Festival—Athens, Onassis Stegi is once again taking to the streets! This time, in the company of a group of primary school children who, having taken part in the “Park elves” workshop, will be showing us their own elves, making dolls out of recycled materials inspired by the Pedion tou Areos, a large park in the centre of Athens, and taking part in their own group action.
In each of its iterations, the Onassis Fast Forward Festival—Athens focuses on the concept of public space, inviting all of us to see the city in new and creative ways! In the “Park elves” workshop, which will take place over 3 two-hour sessions, the children will narrate their own stories about the park. They will make their own dolls out of natural materials and recycled rubbish, drawing on the images, animals and people they encounter in the park for inspiration.
The workshop will lead naturally into a discussion about waste as a parameter of human culture. The children will then pool their thoughts and ideas and work together on the “Park elves” action, in which they will have the opportunity to present the results of their hard work to the public! They will also get to meet their fellow artists Chro Delat and Anton Kats, see the projects they have created, and discuss a subject they all have in common: the park.

The 5th Onassis Fast Forward Festival—Athens will be focusing on points of intersection between art, history and archaeology as well as on the alternative interpretations of Athens’ monuments provided by artists from Greece and beyond. They will include the Chto Delat group from Russia and Anton Kats from Ukraine, who will tell contemporary myths born of the reality and historical past of the Pedion tou Areos, stimulating a series of actions within the park under the umbrella title ”Park Fables”.
