Introduction
A "Winter Journey" to Schubert’s beautiful universe signed by Dionysis Kapsalis.
The second concert of this cycle presents classical or new works, exploring new listening experiences.
Titled “Winter Journey”, it features Franz Schubert’s song cycle “Winterreise” (D 911, opus 89, 1828) for voice and piano, on poems by the German romantic poet Wilhelm Müller.
The songs will be sung in Greek. An idea of Dionysis Kapsalis, who has also translated and adjusted the poems into Greek, it aims to facilitate Greek audiences in experiencing the work, as it unfolds, making it their own.
The completed Cycle “Transformations” includes two more concerts:
27 JANUARY
The first concert of a cycle of three, in which classical or new works are presented in search of new listening experiences.
17 MARCH
Following Schubert’s “Winterreise” in Greek, for the third concert of the Transformations cycle, Nikos Xydakis, Dimitris Papadimitriou and Tassos Rossopoulos will present new songs. These are set to poems by Wilhelm Müller from the “Winterreise” cycle, translated by Dionysis Kapsalis.
