Aged just 23, Nikos Anadolis is poised to blaze a trail that's all his own on the world jazz scene.

Aged just 23, and with a distinction from Berklee in Boston and a prize at the “Martial Solal” international jazz piano competition held every four years in Paris under his belt, Nikos Anadolis is poised to blaze a trail that's all his own on the world jazz scene as a professional musician and the leader of the trio with which he will be performing at the Onassis Stegi.

It's not every day someone that age causes a stir at New York’s legendary Blue Note, the Rabat Jazz Festival or the “Dimitria” festival in Thessaloniki. And it certainly isn't every day that a young musician comes along with so much more than an impressive virtuosity at the keyboard, let alone a jazzman who is already molding a personal style that continues where the musicians who inspired him—Keith Jarrett and Bill Evans—left off.

Anadolis' playing is sure, mature and robust. At the Onassis Stegi, he'll be playing with another two musicians who, though young, have already carved out significant careers for themselves and worked with some of the greatest names in contemporary jazz.

The French bassist, Simon Taillieu , has played with the celebrated singer Youn Sun Nah, and with Michael Cheret and Yaron Herman among others. The German drummer Jonas Burgwinkel has already performed on more than 50 recordings and in concerts with musicians including John Scofield, Chris Potter, Lee Konitz, Uri Caine and Dave Liebman. Taillieu comes with a jazz beat that's all his own and an impressive rhythmic precision which has made him both popular and much sought-after as a collaborator, while Burgwinkel took the Echo Jazz best drummer award at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 2012.
