I am part of a team that develops treatments for people with paralysis, people who may lose their movement in a few seconds, their autonomy, and just the idea that we can actually help these people walk, use their hands, and become independent again is something that fills me.

Achilleas Laskaratos, Onassis Scholar 2023

Achilleas Laskaratos meets Domna Karagageos. Achilleas is doing a PhD degree in neuroscience at the University of Lausanne as an Onassis Scholar. Domna Karagogeos is a Professor of Molecular Biology and Developmental Neurobiology at the School of Medicine, University of Crete, having received her scholarship in 1981. The two discuss the power of teamwork in the development of a scientific discipline, the joy of medical accomplishments, and the road network the City of Scholars needs to grow further.

In the City of Scholars, we ought to build many roads that will lead to squares where the city’s residents can gather and talk.
