Synopsis

A grandson returns to his ancestors’ village to spend the winter. A grandfather returns from death to see his grandson for one last time. A village unable to cope with returns fueled by love.

About the film

“Apallou” is a film balancing between realism and dark fantasy. Documentary elements are intertwined with comedy ones, while horror film aesthetics take the lead from the musical format, wrapped around social realism, where imaginary and belief go beyond what is permitted and take upon a normal form. This mix of cinematic genres, seemingly different from one another, best serves the narration which deals with the notions of ‘alien’ and ‘familiar’ as well as the connecting links between the two concepts.
