Stratos Bichakis (b. 1984) is an Athens-based musician, composer and artist, creating audiovisual installations and performances.

His interest in the aesthetic, scientific, social and technological potential has led him to a holistic approach to the means he employs. After graduating from the School of Chemical Engineering at NTUA, Athens, and the Faculty of Electronic Music at the Contemporary Music Research Center, Athens, and being already an experienced light engineer, he went on researching and combining arts and science, as an artist, developing works that focus on cognitive perception through sound and light. His interdisciplinary activity involves sound compositions using data; the kinetic sculpture “SpaceTime Helix” built for Michela Pelusio; the interactive performances “Pulse,” “DOF,” “N0de”; the compilation “Greek Ethno Music Location Recordings,” released by the German label V I S. In his works, chaos, synchronicity and biology or living organisms’ models serve as the raw material for a hybrid composing practice that involves digital and analog synthesizers, light, projections, and interaction systems developed by himself. Stratos also teaches audio programming and has developed the firmware for Dreadbox synthesizers.

He has exhibited his work in festivals and shows across Greece (ADAF, Documenta, MAWA, mēta platform, Prometheus 2.0), UK, France, Germany, Denmark, Canada (Mois Multi, Quebec, 2017) and Russia (Lexus Hybrid Art, Moscow, 2014), and took part in the MusicMakers Hacklab of the CTM 2014 Festival in Berlin and ICAS 2015 in Dresden.
