Pavlos Kordis
Born in Athens in 1993, Pavlos Kordis is the Mets Arts Center gallery director in Athens and teaches as a contracted lecturer in the Department of Music Studies at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He contributes to the program “Music Connects the Onassis Stegi and the Panteion University,” organized by the two neighboring institutions. He co-founded the “Mavropinakas” artistic collective and works as a composer for theater and television. For several years, he specialized in the musical preparation of lyric singers as a vocal coach, notably collaborating with the young artists program Camerata Bardi Vocal Academy of Teatro Grattacielo (New York). As a conductor, he has worked with choral and orchestral ensembles in Greece, the USA, the UK, the Czech Republic, and Sweden. He holds a PhD with distinction from NKUA’s Department of Music Studies, having previously studied musicology (Integrated Master of Arts) at the same institution and choral/ensemble conducting (Master of Music) at Bard College Conservatory in New York. Pavlos studied orchestral and choral conducting with Kurt Masur, Donald Schleicher, and David Hill, among others, and holds piano and choral conducting diplomas from the Kodály Conservatory. His research has been presented at international conferences, and he is a member of academic communities including ISOCM (University of Eastern Finland), ENID (University of Bergen), and the Hellenic Musicological Society.
