Panos Fourtoulakis
Bio
Panos Fourtoulakis is a curator whose practice centers on media cultures, their ability to produce subjectivities, and the relationship of liveness and embodied presence to mediation, particularly concerning moving image practices. He explores these concerns by developing presentations that consider the exhibition space – online or offline – as a medium to examine how a given context, its underlying rhythms and its attention economy influence the relationship between the viewer and the image. He studied Curating Contemporary Art at the Royal College of Art, Contemporary Art History at Goldsmiths, and Media and Cultural Studies at the London College of Communication, University of the Arts London. He has curated exhibitions and moving image and performance programs for Nottingham Contemporary (Nottingham), Cubitt Artists (London), Goldsmiths CCA (London), LOOP Barcelona (Barcelona), Fringe Queer Film Festival (London), Haus N (Athens), and RCA (London), amongst others. In 2023, he was the curatorial resident at LΟΟP Barcelona and Matadero Madrid. In 2021, he was awarded the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) Artist Fellowship by ARTWORKS.
Panos Fourtoulakis is a participant of the Onassis AiR Tailor-made Residencies program for 2023-24.
