Bio

Natasha Blatsiou is a Greek writer and documentary filmmaker with a keen interest in combining traditional storytelling with transmedia narratives, new documentary forms, and technology components. Documentary projects in which she has participated as a scriptwriter and filmmaker have received international awards, such as World Press Photo and POYi, and have been screened in more than 80 countries. Additionally, her award-winning short stories have been featured in fiction anthologies.

Blatsiou was honored as a Fulbright Artist Scholar in 2022 and is presently a Fellow at Open Documentary Lab/MIT in Boston. In 2013, she attended the documentary summer school of NTFS in London, where she directed her first short film titled “Islanders.” She has also been a part of the Summer Documentary Lab at UNIONDOCS in Brooklyn in 2017 and the European Social Documentary training initiative in 2020. Throughout her career, she has worked as a freelance researcher and producer for local and international media. As a journalist, she had a long-standing collaboration with the Greek media group Kathimerini. Additionally, she co-created and served as the deputy editor of the English-language magazine GREECE IS.

Natasha Blatsiou is a participant of the Onassis AiR Tailor-Made Residencies program 2023-24.
