Maria Vlachou

Maria Vlachou is a founding member and Executive Director of Acesso Cultura. She is the author of the books “O que é que temos a ver com isto? O papel político das organizações culturais” [What do we have to do with it? The Political Role of Cultural Organizations] (2022, in Portuguese) and “Musing on Culture: Management, Communication and our Relationship with People” (2013, in English), as well as the author of the bilingual blog Musing on Culture. She participated in the project RESHAPE – Reflect, Share, Practice, Experiment, in the trajectory on “Arts and Citizenship.” In the past years, she served as the Communications Director of São Luiz Municipal Theatre and the Head of Communication of the Pavilion of Knowledge – Ciência Viva (Lisbon). She is a Fellow of ISPA – International Society for the Performing Arts (2018, 2020) and an alumna of the DeVos Institute of Arts Management at the Kennedy Center in Washington (2011–2013).
