Giorgos Kotsifakis
Giorgos Kotsifakis (b. 1988, Heraklion, Crete) is a graduate of the Rallou Manou Professional Dance School (2009) and the Amsterdam School of Arts (Modern Theatre Dance 2012). He was admitted to the P.A.R.T.S. dance school in Brussels in 2008 and is a 2010 IKY and 2021Artworks fellow. He is a student at the Department of International and European Studies at the University of Piraeus. He also has a Cambridge University Lower qualification in English and a Grundstufe Deutsch 1 qualification in German.
As a dancer, he has worked with DV8, RAMBERT, Eastman/Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Royal Ballet of Flanders, Jan Fabre, Dimitris Papaioannou, Christos Papadopoulos, GöteborgsOperans Danskompani, Antonis Foniadakis, Konstantinos Rigos, the National Opera, Iris Karayan, Lenio Kaklea, Alexandra Waierstall, Ioanna Paraskevopoulou, Persa Stamatopoulou, Haris Kousios, Horeftes, sinequanon, Konstantinos Mihos, Fingersix, Sofia Spyratou, Nigel Charnock, TedX Brussels, and Rallou Manou Elliniko Horodrama, among others.
As a choreographer's assistant, he has worked with the Dance On Ensemble, the Lyon Opera, and NDT1 on choreographies by Christos Papadopoulos. In 2015, he was a member of Dimitris Papaioannou's choreographic team for the opening ceremony of the first European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan.
He has taught seminar courses in contemporary and classical dance at the Greek National Opera Higher Professional Dance Schools, the Rallou Manou Professional Dance School, Aktina, Chorochronos, and Brancacciodanza in Rome.
He has performed in international festivals such as Kunsten Festival des Arts, Festival d'Automne à Paris, Festival d'Avignon, Dance Umbrella, Adelaide Festival, Julidans, Kalamata International Dance Festival, Aerowaves Spring Forward, La Biennale de la Danse de Lyon, Festival Internacional de Buenos Aires, ImPuls Tanz Fesval, Sesc Pinheiros São Paulo, Athens & Epidaurus Festival, Festival di Danza Contemporanea a Rovereto, Kuopio Dance Festival. He appeared in the short film Liebestod, directed by Stathis Athanasiou. He has taken seminars with Daphnis Kokkinos, Lauren Potter, Thomas McManus, Milan Herich, and Hildegard De Vuyst.Giorgos Kotsifakis is an Onassis AiR Fellow for 2024/25 through the Dramaturgy Fellowship.
