Françoise Rivalland (percussion, cymbalum, santoor, zarb, vocals, music creation, direction) was an apprendice to the percussionists Gérard Hiéronimus, Francis Branna, Gaston Sylvestre, and Jean-Pierre Drouet.

As a contemporary music performer, she has been collaborating with Georges Aperghis since 1987 and contributing to a large number of his performances as a music performer, helper, and director; at the same time, she has also directed pieces by Mauricio Κagel, Vinko Globokar, Dieter Schnebel, John Cage, and Samuel Beckett. From 2004 to 2017, she taught at the Master of Arts Programs in Music Composition and Music Theater at the Bern University of the Arts (Hochschule der Künste Bern).

Lately, her activities focus on cymbalum, zarb, santoor, and the use of voice, on solo programs and improvisations, and on concerts and performances where she shares the stage with Hans Tutschku, Rozemarie Heggen, Kamilya Jubran, Joo Seon Cho, Les Witches, Sylvain Prunenec, Elena Andreyev, Suzanne Doppelt, Sonia Wieder-Atherton, or Jos Houben, among others. She has also worked with people with disabilities, in artistic projects that highlight the wealth of diversity.
