Frank Madlener

Frank Madlener is a cultural and artistic manager, and the director of the renowned IRCAM music research institute in Paris. He studied music (piano, conducting) and philosophy in France and Belgium. He has overseen many festivals and musical events. Madlener served as the artistic director of the European Mozart Foundation (Cracow and Budapest) as well as the Ars Musica festival in Brussels and Musica in Strasbourg. In 1999, he co-founded Réseau Varèse, an international research institute devoted to promoting contemporary compositions. Since 2006, Madlener has served as general manager and artistic director of IRCAM (Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique), a dynamic and innovative research institute founded at the Centre Pompidou in the late 1970s. He also heads the international and annual ManiFeste event (festival and Academy) and launched the Vertigo Forum at Centre Pompidou for Art, Design, Architecture, Science and Engineering.
