Evita Tsokanta

Evita Tsokanta works as an independent curator, writer and educator based in Αthens. She studied Art History and English at Rutgers University, U.S.A. and Cultural and Creative Industries at King’s College London. She lectures on curatorial practices and contemporary Greek art. She has contributed to several publications and exhibition catalogues (including Songs for Sabotage, New Museum Triennial, 2018). She has curated Keep on Keeping on: a visual meta-collection at the American College of Greece Gallery and has been appointed co-curator of Reverb: New Art from Greece at School of Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and the 4th Αthens Biennale, AGORA among others. In 2019 she completed a Goethe Institute writing residency in Leipzig. Her research focuses on non-hierarchical exhibition models and didactic methods with the goal of knowledge co-production by auteurs and audience. In writing, she is experimenting with elements of autofiction in the essay form. She participates in research and activist networks of independent artistic production that address sustainability issues in the cultural and creative sector.
