Demy Papathanasiou
Demy Papathanassiou was co-artistic director of Theatre enCorps Collectif. She has also been a member of the Onassis Stegi iDance since 2013. As a member of iDance she has participated in the International Dance Festival ‘Unlimited Access’ held in Athens in 2015. She attended the workshops of the iDance program at the Onassis Stegi, participating in workshops abroad with the other iDance groups: Holland Dance Festival (Netherlands), Skånes Dansteater (Sweden), Stopgap Dance Company (United Kingdom). She is currently involved in the ‘Europe Beyond Access’ program.
She completed a minor concentration in Contemporary Dance Practices in 2018. She has presented her first major choreographic work, “Dançor,” as part of Our Festival 4 in August 2018. “Journey,” her first work for the Theatre enCorps Collectif as a co-artistic director was presented at Kyma Festival 2019 and Our Festival 5 (September 2019) in Athens. She curated the closing ceremony of the international collaborative project ‘Seven to the Seventh’ for Theatre enCorps Collectif in June 2019 Nostos Festival. In the closing ceremony, Demy brought together multiple inclusive dance groups to work collaboratively. Her second work, “[New] Horizons,” exploring the effect of the isolation due to COVID-19 on individuals with diverse needs, was premiered at Our Festival 6 in August 2020 and from there went on to be part of Mylos Festival in Larissa in September 2020. Demy has choreographed a new work called “You Walk” for Theatre enCorps Collectif that was partly funded by the Ministry of Culture and Sports under its ‘Festivals and Multi-thematic Events’ funding strand and was presented online in July 2021.
