Ana Franca

Internal Medicine Consultant, Intensivist, Hospital Manager Specialist, Transplantation Consultant

Dr Ana Franca's prominent hospital career, unwavering commitment, and profound organ donation and transplantation expertise have incrementally solidified her role as the former Portuguese National Donation and Transplantation Coordinator. Her active engagement in numerous EU projects, including DOPKI, ODEQUS, ETPOD, ACCORD, ENCKEP, and Black Sea Area Projects, underscores her leadership and experience.

The technical involvement in the Council of Europe's activities and contribution to developing the 6th Edition of the Guide to the Quality and Safety of Organs for Transplantation (EDQM) has earned her the privilege of reviewing the most recent editions.

However, her significant role in developing registries in donation and transplantation not only provides compelling evidence for the quality and safety of biovigilance in organ and tissue donation and transplantation but also ensures the robustness of the mission of the National Governmental Technical Body in promoting the quality of life for patients.

Ana's commitment as a faculty member to training healthcare professionals and developing projects for the DTI Foundation of Barcelona helped her fulfill her mission.

Recently, she promoted and organized conferences, parallel sessions' meetings, and debates in 2023 and 2024, at Cascais International Health Forum, on topics such as "the future of transplantation" and "leadership in organ and tissue donation and transplantation," engaging and informing the audience. Her contribution through lectures, publications, and studies have left a lasting impression on the Portuguese Scientific Societies of Internal Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, and Transplantation.
