Darren Jordan Cunningham is a British musician and producer from Wolverhampton, known under his pseudonym Actress. Being an autodidact, he started DJing before moving to London, where he co-founded first the club night, then the label Werkdiscs, which later on discovered many artists of the emerging bass generation. His experimental music shies away from one genre and merges techno with funk, rave, noise, afrofuturist sounds, and dubstep. Actress has collaborated with artists and musicians alike, the London Contemporary Orchestra, the Dutch National Choir, photographers such as Mehdi Lacoste and Wolfgang Tillmans, and visual artist Eddie Peake.
