Together in Culture. A campaign about the return to indoor performing spaces

Audiences, employees and artists, we all come back together to the indoor performing spaces.

Why do we keep coming back to performances which we already know their ending? Why do we applaud so fiercely until our hands ache, and why do we hooray until we lose our voice?

The Covid-19 pandemic may have changed much of our daily routine but couldn’t make us forget the experience of a live performance or a concert: When the lights go out and we, artists and audiences, let ourselves loose and surrender to new, unexplored realms. Now, the doors of all performing spaces across the country are open again, and we all come back with safety to the rehearsals, the late hours zest, the preparation’s fatigue, the after performance lengthy conversations, the emotion, the laughs, the applause.

About the campaign
Through a campaign dedicated to culture, we watch daily episodes with Greek artists while at home and getting ready to go out. All the episodes are interrupted by dance moves, rehearsals, learning by heart, interpretations that appear like fireworks to disrupt normality. The artists ‘pass the baton’ to the spectators, who walk down the streets of Athens’ neighborhoods to reach one of the city’s venues or theatre stages. One move comes after the other in a natural sequence, like a human chain that needs to be unified.

Becoming someone new each day.
Daring to think.
Baring all before a thousand others.
Crying in the company of strangers.
Clapping till your hands hurt.

We all come back to the indoor performing spaces. Together in Culture

Culture is not singular, but plural; it encompasses all the people, authors, artists, spectators, employees, all the cultural institutions, large and small performing stages, opera and electronic music, classic ballet and contemporary dance theatre. So, let’s get back together to the indoor performing spaces, following all the necessary safety measures for everyone’s sake. To absorb and give back energy. To celebrate the power of live experience. To claim spiritual and mental movement. To laugh. To disagree. To feel touched. To contemplate. To dream and exorcise fear. To love. To relive all we have in common. Together. Culture is a reason to live, culture is together.
