Tassos Langis: The Public Private House

Tassos Langis' exploration of the history, culture, and human aspect of the Athenian polykatoikia (apartment building) began with the award-winning documentary "Builders, Housewives, and the Construction of Modern Athens," which he co-created with Yiannis Gaitanidis. In his next film "The Public Private House," he investigates the complex social, cultural, and physical reality of Athens in the present and poses the crucial question of how we coexist in the modern city. What ways are there for us to inhabit it together? Using symbiotic forms of storytelling and incorporating new studies and findings, Tassos Langis' eagerly awaited new documentary on Athens could offer a glimpse into a vibrant urban future.

Through his Fellowship at Onassis AiR, Laggis developed aspects of the work for the feature documentary produced by Onassis Culture in 2026, "The Public Private House: 9 Stanzas for Athens".
