Christos Papadopoulos: My Fierce Ignorant Step (Working Title)

The minimalist Greek choreographer who directed “NEKYIA”, an unexpected collaboration with Giannis Aggelakas on the Main Stage of Onassis Stegi for the 2023-24 season, while his works “ION” and “Larsen C” are touring internationally, is currently undergoing a period of research and development of a new work, commissioned and co-produced by Onassis Stegi and scheduled to premiere in Spring 2025. As an Onassis AiR Fellow through the Dramaturgy Fellowships, he is creating a choreographic work based on the memories and sounds of his childhood and adolescence in his hometown of Nemea in the Peloponnese. His main source of inspiration is the records of Mikis Theodorakis and Manos Hadjidakis that he listened to with his brothers and mother. Their language, lyrics, rhythm, and pulse come this time into focus, with Christos Papadopoulos looking for the connection between the minimum of movement and the maximum of words.
