AiR/ONX Residencies

Since 2023, this collaboration has supported projects at the intersection of culture, technology, and human experience. In 2025, the activities of Onassis AiR and Onassis ONX Fellows expanded to Onassis Ready, the Onassis Foundation’s new space dedicated to artistic creation and experimentation.

The AiR/ONX Fellows work within the realm of art and advanced technologies, using media such as artificial intelligence and XR/VR/AR, as well as analog immersive experiences, games, spatial computing, digital performance, networked images, hardware sculptures, zombie technologies, and robots.

The residencies offer time and space to research and develop projects, while participants receive mentoring from industry experts and academic advisors, along with curatorial and technical guidance from the Onassis ONX teams and members in Athens and New York. In addition to the Onassis AiR Open Days, the AiR/ONX Fellows may participate in showcase and networking opportunities across the Onassis Culture ecosystem and connect with external distributors, investors, and producers.

For the 2026–27 season, the program places particular emphasis on immersive practices and critical thinking around technologies that question the dominant AI paradigms and the material, environmental, and political infrastructures behind them. Alongside spatial computing, XR, AI, and other emergent media, the program invited approaches to slow and tactical technologies, non-extractive platforms, affective design, techno-spirituality, and technologies oriented toward pausing and healing.
