ASFA – Athens School Of Fine Arts
Onassis AiR Collaboration
Founded in 1836, the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) is the oldest art school in Greece. Through conversations with artist and professor of ASFA, Nikos Arvanitis, we have devised a three-year collaboration and a three-part laboratory focusing on the notion of “expanded publishing” which we defined based on the etymological definition of the word “publish”: to make something public.
Between 2019 and 2021, each year, a Greek or international artist, designer, scholar, curator, collective, or other cultural practitioner, will develop an (approximately) one-week laboratory digging through the notion of what it means to make something public in today’s society.
Each year’s laboratory will take place in one of the unique facilities of ASFA Annexes (Hydra, Mykonos, Delphi, etc.) or in Αthens. The participants, undergraduate or graduate students of any and all departments and studios of ASFA, will be selected through an open call of Onassis ΑiR.
