Bill Psarras: "Urban Halo", 2013
Work inspired by the great Greek poet, C.P. Cavafy
"The work is defined by the metaphorical and actual meanings of both human movement and city; initiating an inner peripatetic dialogue with the current reality.
Based on his walking, the artist approaches in a poetic way the perpetual movement and psychic conflict of the human figure and other times of the soul and nation towards ‘the city inside’. Balancing between metaphor and action, the asphalt becomes the surface of the soul, the city delineates an inner topography and the air becomes the primordial sound of the body.
A peripatetic movement which is defined by periods of harmony, contrast, emotional outbursts and failures. A peripatetic movement which “weaves” all of them into a personal/collective ‘halo’."
