A group new media exhibition in the Recreation Park in Athens’ Plato’s Academy neighbourhood.
“Visual Dialogues 2012” is a group exhibition of multimedia works of art, taking place at the Plato's Academy Leisure Park. The exhibition problematic is based on two main axes:
A. The financial, political and state crisis as a challenge for democracy and the arts
B. Social factors like unemployment, the risk of state bankruptcy and immigration as a motive for artistic action and reaction.
The Onassis Stegi invited visual artists to create entirely new, original works, which engage with one of the show’s twin axes mentioned above. The ten works in the exhibition, all of which are on public display for the first time as part of the “Visual Dialogues 2012”, were produced using new media technologies (video art, projection of digital images, animation etc.), and are shown in self-contained architectural structures standing in the Park in the Plato’s Academy area (entrance at the corner of Tripoleos & Kratylou streets).
This arrangement will allow the visitors to wander through the park and discover for themselves the ten projections hosted inside ten kiosks, designed to fit in with their natural surroundings.
